A Gift Representing New Brunswick

–Presented to His Majesty King Charles III–

The presentation box was crafted from birdseye maple, with cherry used for the top and legs and a glass viewing panel incorporated into the lid.

Recognition from the Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick

Lieutenant Governor of NB / Lieutenante-gouverneure du N.-B.
In November, I had the immense honour of meeting His Majesty King Charles III during a private audience at Buckingham Palace. On behalf of all New Brunswickers, I offered him cuff links and a pendant carved from quahog shell.
Accompanied by a sweetgrass offering and a salmon fly and placed on a cushion made from New Brunswick tartan, the gift was presented to him in a handcrafted wooden box.
Thank you to local artisans Marcia Poirier, Jason Willcox, Scott Strugnell, and Claire Buck for their works representing our province.

Custom Companion Memorial Urn

This custom companion urn was designed and handcrafted to provide two separate memorial compartments within a single piece.

The wood for this project was carefully selected, with cherry used for the body, walnut for the columns, bocote for the base pattern, and birdseye maple for the laser-cut hearts and foliage overlays.

The urn has a total interior capacity of 327 cubic inches, divided into two compartments measuring approximately 160 cubic inches and 168 cubic inches.

The front features an interlocking-heart design, with complementary decorative details carried around the sides. A central divider separates the two memorial compartments.

Particular attention was given to the joinery, proportions, wood selection, and decorative details throughout the piece. The result is a one-of-a-kind memorial urn handcrafted entirely in our New Brunswick workshop.

Trophy Base — Government House, Fredericton

We were commissioned to create a custom trophy base from curly and birdseye maple for a granite trophy. It currently resides at Government House in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

This project was a challenge because it was such a large block being cut into a pyramid base.

The top was routed first after the block assembly using a custom made template.

A custom created jig was then required for the table saw in order to cut the block properly on an angle while keeping it secured. The block cuts were started using the jig and table saw with a steep angle on the four sides. The remainder of the cut was accomplished by securing the block and using a sliding compound miter saw. It was then sanded, sealed with tung oil, and then a protective finish applied. An application of paste wax was applied last to really make it pop.

Custom Edge-Grain Countertop

We designed, built, and installed a custom edge-grain maple countertop for one of downtown’s restaurants.

Modular Pasta Rack

We built this large modular pasta rack entirely from maple. The two tiers are removable, the columns collapse for storage, and the base can be used as both a pasta-rolling station and a cutting board. The modular design allows the rack to be configured to suit different uses.

Custom Maple Add-On Cutting Board

We were commissioned to create a custom edge-grain maple cutting board designed to attach to an existing kitchen island.

48″ × 30″ × 1.5″ Walnut-Style Floating Frame

We were commissioned to create a large 48″ × 30″ × 1.5″ floating frame designed to accommodate a standard ¾″ painted canvas.

The client wanted the appearance of a walnut frame while keeping the project within budget. We constructed the frame from birch and finished it with a walnut stain, producing the rich appearance of walnut at a lower cost.

Laser Skull Table

We were asked to build a skull table for my daughters’ friend. We built a pure maple table with half lapped legs with additional supports and splines. The top was laser etched then stained for effect. The lip around the table was fashioned using very thin maple strips formed, glued and clamped to the table. Layers were built up over a few days using this method. Finally, the legs and underside of table were painted, the table top surface was varnished.
